Braces & Teeth Straightening in Jhadol & Phalasiya

Straightens crooked, crowded or gapped teeth and corrects the bite.

Checking tooth alignment during a consultation at MS Udaipur Dental Clinic

Braces move teeth slowly into a better position using gentle, continuous pressure. They are used for teeth that are crowded, crooked, sticking out, or too far apart, and for bites that do not meet correctly. Straightening is not only about appearance: crowded teeth trap food and are much harder to clean, so they decay and develop gum disease faster.

Who can have braces

The best time to start is usually between 11 and 15, when most permanent teeth are through and the jaw is still growing. But there is no upper age limit — adults in their thirties and forties are treated routinely, as long as the gums and supporting bone are healthy. Some bite problems in children are easier to correct early, so a first orthodontic check at around age 8 is worthwhile even if nothing is done yet.

How long does it take?

Most cases take between 12 and 24 months, depending on how far the teeth have to move. You will come in roughly every four to six weeks for an adjustment. Missing those appointments is the main reason treatment drags on far longer than it needs to.

Living with braces

  • The first week is the most uncomfortable — teeth feel tender and the cheeks need time to toughen up.
  • Avoid very hard and sticky foods: sugarcane, hard chikki, gum, and whole apples or guavas bitten from the front.
  • Cleaning matters more than ever. Brush after every meal and use the interdental brush we give you.
  • A broken wire or loose bracket is not an emergency, but ring the clinic so we can fit you in.

Retainers — the part that protects the result

When the braces come off, teeth have a strong tendency to drift back. A retainer holds them in place while the bone settles around the new positions. Wearing it exactly as instructed is what keeps the result you spent two years achieving. Patients who stop wearing retainers early are the ones who come back years later with teeth crooked again.

Questions patients ask about this treatment

How long will I need to wear braces?

Most patients wear braces for 12 to 24 months. Mild crowding can finish sooner, while severe protrusion or cases needing tooth removal take longer. After an examination and X-ray we can give you a realistic estimate for your own teeth. Keeping your monthly adjustment appointments is the single biggest factor in finishing on time.

Am I too old for braces?

No. Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the gums and the bone holding them are healthy. Adults in their thirties, forties and beyond are treated successfully. The one difference is that adult treatment can take a little longer than a teenager's, and any gum disease must be brought under control before braces go on.

Will teeth have to be removed for braces?

Not always. Removal is only needed when there is not enough room in the jaw to line the teeth up — usually in severe crowding or when front teeth stick out a long way. Many cases are treated without removing anything. We decide after measuring the space on an X-ray, and we explain the reason before anything is taken out.

How often do I have to come to the clinic during braces treatment?

About once every four to six weeks for an adjustment, and each visit is usually short. Because both our clinics in Jhadol and Phalasiya are open Monday to Saturday from 8 AM to 7 PM, appointments can usually be fitted around school, college or work.
