How to Brush Your Teeth Correctly

Most cavities and gum problems start with small mistakes in daily brushing. The good news: a correct routine takes only two minutes and keeps your teeth healthy for years.
The right way to brush
- Brush twice a day — once in the morning and once before bed.
- Use a soft-bristled brush and a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.
- Hold the brush at a 45° angle to your gums.
- Use gentle, short strokes — never scrub hard.
- Brush all surfaces: outer, inner and the chewing tops.
- Spend a full two minutes and do not forget your tongue.
Common mistakes to avoid
Brushing too hard wears down enamel and hurts the gums. Also avoid brushing immediately after acidic or sugary food — rinse with water and wait a little first.
Replace your toothbrush every three months, and pair brushing with daily flossing or an interdental cleaner. If your gums bleed regularly, visit the clinic for a check-up.
